What is it?

Used to map career events to significant life events and level of satisfaction – create insight and discussion:

• Raise awareness & Identify choice points
• ID external influences and internal drivers
• Patterns and trends
• Sense of right timing for decisions and moves
• See factors that influencedecisions
• ID threats, resources and strategies
• Link past to present and present to future
• Clarify Values

When to use it?

Can be used when faced with significant career decisions or re-assessing the correct trajectory for personal and professional life. To evaluate satisfaction in the past with reference to significant events. Its interesting to look at obvious turning points and explore the decisions made at those times. Helps access stengths, resources and guiding values

How to use it?

• Draw a pictorial representation of your career to date. You can draw a graph in a timeframe, a picture, a journey of other visual representation (it must have a time representation and show significant life events – personal and professional)
• Look at the significant turning points; what were the decisions then? The resources? Influences? Learnings? Explore:
• Patterns & themes?
• Major educational or career decisions
• Who/what helped in the decisions?
• High points: inner strengths & external conditions?
• Low points: what could have helped? Done differently?
• What are your underlying values? What is most important?
• ID 3 strengths that carried you through
• 3 most important features for a job for you?
• Define your priorities for work-life balance
• Where would you like to be in x years?
